Santa Fe Elopement Photographer
An elopement in Santa Fe is not a compromise. It is a choice — to do the day in a way that actually reflects who you are, without the weight of a hundred-person guest list or a two-year planning timeline. Santa Fe's architecture, light, and landscape do not require decoration. The adobe walls, the chile ristras hanging on portal columns, the winter sky over the Sangre de Cristo Mountains — the city is already set for something meaningful.
I am Casey Addason. I have been photographing elopements in Santa Fe and Northern New Mexico for years. Most of them are small by design: two people, sometimes a witness or two, a short ceremony, and a few hours of portraits in the places that matter. Here is how I think about eloping in Santa Fe.

Why Santa Fe Works for Elopements
Santa Fe offers something most elopement destinations do not — genuine character that exists regardless of whether a wedding is happening. The Plaza, the Canyon Road galleries, the Cathedral Basilica of Saint Francis of Assisi, the Museum Hill neighborhood, the stretch of adobe compounds along the Old Santa Fe Trail — all of it is already there. You are not renting a backdrop. You are choosing a real place.
For elopements specifically, the city's scale is an advantage. You can walk from the hotel to the ceremony site to dinner in an evening without a car. The historic district is compact enough that you can hit multiple locations in a three-hour portrait session — the adobe wall near the Loretto Chapel, the zaguan at El Zaguan gardens, the rooftop view from a Canyon Road compound — without losing the day to logistics.

The locations that come up most consistently for Santa Fe elopements:
The Loretto Chapel — The Miraculous Staircase is one of the most recognizable architectural details in New Mexico. Small ceremonies happen here regularly, and the chapel interior is exceptional for available-light photography.
Canyon Road — The gallery district is ideal for late-afternoon elopement portraits. The adobe walls, the gardens behind the galleries, and the narrow road itself give photographs a texture that is specific to Santa Fe and nowhere else.
Museum Hill — Elevated above the downtown with clear views of the Jemez Mountains to the west and the Sangre de Cristos to the east, Museum Hill is where I take couples who want open sky and clean landscape rather than architecture.
Diablo Canyon — About twenty minutes north of town, Diablo Canyon is where I take elopements that want genuine desert terrain — volcanic basalt, the Rio Grande corridor, open mesa.

How Elopement Photography Works With Me
Elopement packages with Casey Addason Photography start at $1,500 for a half-day session (up to four hours). Full-day elopement coverage — useful if you want ceremony, portraits, and a dinner reception all documented — is available as an add-on. Video coverage can be included in any elopement package.
I handle permit logistics for public land locations. Rio Grande del Norte National Monument, Kasha-Katuwe Tent Rocks National Monument, and Ghost Ranch all require advance permits for commercial photography. I stay current on availability and will let you know what is needed for your specific location.
For elopements at private venues — the Inn of the Five Graces, La Fonda on the Plaza, Bishop's Lodge, Four Seasons Rancho Encantado — I have worked at all of them and know the shooting logistics well.
