Santa Fe Wedding Videographer: Photo and Video From the Same Person

Wedding ceremony at Bishop's Lodge Santa Fe, documentary photography and videography by Casey Addason

Most couples hire a wedding photographer and a videographer separately, then spend their wedding day managing two strangers with cameras who have never worked together. I do both. One person, one consistent eye, one vision for how your wedding looks and feels on screen and in print.

I am Casey Addason, a documentary wedding photographer and videographer based in Santa Fe, New Mexico. I cover weddings across the state — Bishop's Lodge, Four Seasons Rancho Encantado, La Fonda on the Plaza, Ghost Ranch, El Monte Sagrado in Taos, and private properties throughout northern New Mexico. Every wedding I take includes both photo and video deliverables.

Why one person for both matters

When two separate teams cover a wedding, there is constant negotiation over the same moments. The photographer wants a clear shot of the first kiss; the videographer needs an angle for the same frame. One of them wins. Usually nobody is happy. When I cover both, the camera positions are coordinated because there is only one set of decisions being made.

The coverage also feels more coherent. The video and the photographs share a visual language — the same color palette, the same preference for natural light over flash, the same instinct for when to hold back and let a moment breathe. Couples who receive both from a single photographer tell me the photo and video feel like they belong together, not like they were shot by two different people with different aesthetics.

What the video actually looks like

I do not produce cinematic short films with drone flyovers and swelling orchestral scores. The video I make is documentary — the same instinct that drives my photography. I capture sound. The ambient noise of a ceremony at Ghost Ranch in the wind. The officiant's voice. The vows. The laughter during the first dance. The toasts. These are the things that photographs cannot hold, and they are what the video is for.

Standard video deliverables include a ceremony edit (full ceremony, uncut, with clean audio), a highlight film of four to six minutes covering the full day, and short social clips optimized for sharing. All video is color-graded to match the photographs. Delivery within four to six weeks of the wedding date.

New Mexico venues I know well

Every Santa Fe and New Mexico venue I work in regularly presents specific challenges for video that I have already solved. Bishop's Lodge has exceptional natural light in the ceremony garden but the indoor reception spaces require careful audio positioning for toasts. Four Seasons Rancho Encantado has strong wind on the mountain terrace that affects outdoor audio — I use a directional shotgun mic and position accordingly. La Fonda on the Plaza's La Plazuela courtyard has ambient restaurant noise during cocktail hour that needs to be managed. Ghost Ranch is remote enough that I plan for no cell service and bring backup power for all equipment.

Knowing these things before I walk in means your wedding day runs without technical surprises. The video comes back clean because the audio was captured correctly, not fixed in post.
