Jordan & Gylf | Fall Wedding at The Ridge — Santa Fe

Some weddings you photograph. Others you feel. Jordan and Gylf's October evening at The Ridge was the second kind — the kind where the style is dialed, the energy is electric, and you leave thinking about it for days.

The Ridge is an 8,000-square-foot luxury estate tucked into the foothills of Santa Fe, sitting on ten acres of piñon pines, junipers, and flowering yuccas down an unpaved road at the base of the Sangre de Cristos. It blends a traditional territorial-style hacienda with a serious contemporary art collection — works spanning nearly fifty years, including pieces by Sol LeWitt, Glenn Ligon, Hank Willis Thomas, and Cara Romero. The great room has soaring twelve-foot ceilings and a grand fireplace. The library is floor-to-ceiling bookshelves with a hand-crafted table by local furniture maker Dylan Weller. The views stretch into the Galisteo Basin. When you book The Ridge, the entire property is yours — no shared spaces, no other events. Just you and the desert.

Getting Ready

The getting ready moments at The Ridge are something else. The interiors are moody and editorial — deep green built-in bookshelves lined with Virgil Abloh, Rick Owens, Alexander McQueen, and Scarpa monographs. A geometric staircase sculpture catching window light. Contemporary photography on the walls. It's the kind of space where you can shoot a groom buttoning his shirt in an oval mirror and it looks like a GQ spread without trying.

And then there was the wardrobe. Gylf showed up in an embroidered blazer that stopped the room — dark with hand-stitched florals, birds of paradise, and the words "To plant a garden is to believe in tomorrow" written down the sleeve. Paired with a purple jacquard shirt underneath. Jordan went clean in a cream linen suit with a white oxford, the kind of understated elegance that lets your partner's statement piece breathe. Together, the contrast was perfect.

The Ceremony & Portraits

October light in Santa Fe doesn't miss. The air was crisp, the sun was low, and the property's mix of adobe, desert plants, and mountain views gave us frame after frame without moving more than fifty feet.

The portrait that defines this wedding for me is the one backlit in a doorway — foreheads together, silhouetted, with the sun blowing out behind them. No posing directions needed. They just found each other, and I found the light. That's the whole job sometimes.

Why The Ridge Is One of Santa Fe's Best Wedding Venues

The Ridge isn't a hotel ballroom or a traditional event space — it's a private luxury estate that happens to be one of the most extraordinary places to get married in New Mexico. The entire ten-acre property is exclusively yours when you book it. There are no other events, no shared lobbies, no strangers wandering through your photos.

Inside, the interiors read like a design magazine — deep green library walls, contemporary art and photography, curated bookshelves, a chef's kitchen with a 48-inch eight-burner range, and multiple gathering spaces that flow from formal to intimate. Outside, there's a large furnished courtyard, a shaded portal, a fire pit with lounge seating, and views that stretch from the Sangre de Cristos to the Galisteo Basin.

For photographers, it's a playground. Every room has different light. Every corner has different texture. And the outdoor spaces transition from golden hour to firelit magic in a way that keeps the whole evening feeling cinematic.

The Reception

When the sun dropped and the flash came out, this wedding shifted gears entirely. The B&W reception photos from this night are some of my favorites I've ever shot. There's a rawness and movement to slow-sync flash work that feels like you're inside the party, not documenting it from the sidelines.

Jordan, drink in hand, fist in the air, suit jacket flying open against motion blur. Gylf on the dance floor, eyes closed, arms out, embroidered blazer catching light streaks in every direction. These are the frames that don't come from posing. They come from two people who know how to celebrate — and a photographer who's willing to get in the middle of it.

Jordan and Gylf — you two threw one of the most stylish, joyful weddings I've ever had the privilege of shooting. The wardrobe, the venue, the energy, the love. All of it. Thank you for letting me be part of it.
